DRY NEEDLING

Helping Relieve Muscle Tension & Improve Movement

Muscle tightness, soreness and restricted movement can affect your everyday activities, work and exercise. At CT Family Chiropractic in Myaree, dry needling may be used alongside chiropractic care and other appropriate techniques to help manage musculoskeletal pain and improve movement.

At CT Family Chiropractic, Dr Shannon, Dr Jezz & Dr Tara have undertaken training in dry needling. They can assess whether this technique may be appropriate for your individual needs.

What Is Dry Needling?

Dry needling is a technique performed by trained practitioners using fine, sterile needles inserted into specific areas of muscle, often called trigger points or muscle knots.

The aim is to influence muscle tension and pain, helping improve comfort and movement. Unlike acupuncture, which is based on traditional Chinese medicine principles, dry needling focuses on musculoskeletal structures and their function.

How Can Dry Needling Help?

Dry needling may be considered as part of an individualised care plan for a range of musculoskeletal concerns.

Reduce Muscle Tightness & Spasms

Muscle tension and trigger points can contribute to soreness and discomfort. Dry needling may help reduce muscle tightness and improve comfort during movement.

Help Neck, Back & Shoulder Pain

Dry needling may be used to help manage certain types of musculoskeletal pain affecting the neck, back and shoulders, depending on the underlying cause.

Relief Headaches Associated with Muscle Tension

For some people, muscle tension around the neck and shoulders may contribute to headaches. Dry needling may be considered alongside other appropriate management strategies.

Improve Mobility & Range of Motion

When muscle tightness limits comfortable movement, dry needling may help improve range of motion and make everyday activities easier.

Sports Injuries & Rehabilitation

For active individuals and athletes, dry needling may complement a rehabilitation program for selected muscle-related injuries and exercise-related discomfort. It may be combined with appropriate exercises and movement advice to support recovery.

What Can I Expect During Treatment?

Your chiropractor will discuss your concerns, assess your needs and explain the proposed treatment before proceeding.

Your practitioner will also explain what to expect and discuss relevant risks and precautions before treatment.
